Hi Everyone,
Holly here. I just wanted to share with you all some
details from Michael and Alyssa's wedding on Saturday. It was an absolutely
beautiful day in Windsor, where friends and family gathered to celebrate the
happy couple. Alyssa of course was stunning, her beauty was absolutely radiant.
We were prepared for some terrible weather, due to the forecast,
however miraculously the temperature and conditions were perfect. I have a
feeling Dad was up there working his magic, shining down on all of us.
Mike and Alyssa were married at Pointe
West Golf Course, the club where Michael is a member. The venue was decorated
beautifully, with some hand-made details by Dad. The bride and groom requested
that dad write the table numbers using his wonderful calligraphy. Months ago
dad got to work, hand crafting each number. We were so thrilled he was able to
complete this task, it was so great to see his touch sprinkled throughout the
day.
While the day was of course very emotional
for our family, we promised dad that we would celebrate, and were given strict
orders from him to "party until the wheels come off". Mom spoke
beautifully during her speech, talking about the incredible man Michael has
become, reflecting some of Dad's best qualities. Dad's absence was felt by the
entire room on this day, but his love and his memory helped light us all up. We
are learning to experience dad's influence and presence in our lives in a
different way- we carry him with us always.
Congratulations Michael and Alyssa! What a beautiful couple you make. Michael - you have great eyes. You spoke incredibly well considering your dad hadn't proofread your speech. I love the touch of your dad at your wedding...I love the photo on the hill...Kathleen and Holly - wow! Stunning ladies...Matt delivered a speech it looked like. Since I last saw you, I've sat by a student who had Mr. Steffler for 3 courses...she told me of his impact and how she writes daily now...and of his 3 movies he'd show to his students: The Dead Poet Society, The Game, and the Truman Show...(now I'm going to have to see them...and NO, don't tell me the ending!) Michael and Alyssa, congratulations...You're dad would be sooooo happy for you and proud of you all! It looks like a stunning day forever engraved on your hearts and minds. Love and Blessings! (Thanks for sharing your happiness!)

Hi Kathleen, Last night was emotional knowing no Mr. Steffler was there to talk lit with. But as I went up to "Hair" to talk to my kid's teacher, in the stairwell, I saw a piece of paper, a little square on the floor upside down. I picked it up and gasped when I saw what it was...a little square, which said "In Memory of" then in the space, a student wrote, "Oh Captain, my Captain"! and on the bottom it was written - Mr. Steffler. This is a quote from a movie he used to inspire his students - from The Dead Poets Society - Here is the quote from the movie - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j64SctPKmqk - Apparently SDCI students stuck messages all around his classroom door and on their lockers. "Oh Captain, my Captain!"
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute couple. I am totally in love with these inspirations. Keep posting such details here. Our wedding day is approaching fast so we are going to be extremely busy in a few days. Have only booked one of the NYC venues on a short notice but are so glad that found an awesome deal.
